Description: This data field is the next version of "Single Run Field" supporting dynamic running and cycling adjustment with support for Garmin Connect defined user HR zones. Basic running elements are provided by this field with some customization of how this is presented to the user while in an activity. When in a activity defined as running it will use the user defined settings marked as running and use the Garmin Connect defined running HR zones. When in a activity defined as cycling it will use the user defined settings marked as cycling and use the Garmin Connect defined cycling HR zones. The data field has the following features:

  • background color determined by APP setting (Fenix3) or user setting (FR230/235/630/735XT/920XT/vivoactive)
  • pace/speed and distance in metric or statute based on system setting
  • choose pace or speed from user settings in Garmin Express (running and cycling)
  • choose current, average, 5s, or 10s for speed and pace based on user settings
  • activity timer or elapsed time based on user settings
  • current HR (color indicating HR range based on Garmin Connect settings for running and cycling)
  • current cadence (color indicating cadence range based on Garmin Connect or custom values for running and cycling)
  • battery meter graphic with text percentage
  • GPS status indicator (shows GPS when locked and nothing when not locked)

HR zone coloring matching Garmin's defined color scheme:

  • Z5 (Red)
  • Z4 (Orange)
  • Z3 (Green)
  • Z2 (Blue)
  • Z1 (Grey)

*** OLDER VERSIONS ***

*** NOTE *** Single Run Field v2 is now just called Single Run Field and is combined so there are less versions. If the version you are currently using is working there is no reason to switch your install. In the future if there are features you want you will need move to the supported combined version. There is no difference between the versions at this time!

Please use this thread to discuss the single data fields. Links to other support resources for these data fields are listed here:

  • 1) What is the pace metric that is being displayed? Is it instant pace? smoothed?

The pace is directly computed from the speed given to the developer which is what I would believe to be instant pace. That being said, the GPS speed adjustment is far from instant (at least on the F3) but that is completely out of the developers control. Using the foot pod (again on the F3) results in a quickly adjusted pace when a speed change occurs. Either source of speed matches the speed presented by Garmin's "Pace/Speed" data field.

    2) Is it possible to add a field to show avg pace per mile?

It is possible but currently adjustment in either number of fields or content of fields have been placed on hold. Personally and from feedback I have received, a less cluttered screen focusing on the basics has been very well received. I have some ideas if advancements in the development environment progress how I expect will allow building in some flexibility while maintaining the less cluttered focused screen approach. Data fields in particular have operating restrictions which dictate that things don't get too bloated or advanced, arguably this data screen wasn't the original intention given the amount of resources provided to the developer but it works well and I have enjoyed it. It should also be noted that this is a hobby and most things I publish are built by me for me and I believe in sharing the end result if it helps others as I feel it helps me, when my vested time remains low. Hope you find it useful!!
  • Thanks!!

    Tremendously useful. Thank you!
  • Difference?

Does it show GPS connectivity and how is it different from 367RunFields (F3) datafield?

Maximum time of use reahced. PRO-Version 4 unlimeted use?????

    ###eRROR###
  • Today i've got the message, that i've reached the maximum time uf use for this datafield. I have to pay (??? have i ???) for the PRO-Version to use the datafield unlimited?

I'am very angry, because this message came while i was in a competition.

Hope, this is just a joke?! Sure a bat joke!

    Is it?

I think there is some confusion about what is happening. The data field that I produced does not and will not have a charge for any of the functionality that is currently available today and will also not remove this version. There is no time out or trial mode for my product. I believe you are refering to 367 fields which I am not affiliated with and this thread does not pertain to.

To answer the previously asked question, the Single Run Field has always had a GPS status, TOD, and battery level status bar. On the Fenix/D2 the TOD is on the top and GPS/battery is on the bottom. The 920XT/Epix have everything in a status bar along the top. Initially that was what made my field different from the 367 offerings and they were recently added to that set. I do not wish to get involved in the current transtion other fields are making and will not be making any further comparision. That being said, I believe as well as others using my Single Run Field field that it works well and does exactly as advertised. Should you decide to give it a try I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

    Sorry! Sorry!

I am very sorry! You're right and i made a mistake.
I've tried yours and the 367...field. It wasn't your datafield, that produced the message.

I also wrote a mail to the Garmin-support, to remove my wrong review.

Sorry guy, your field is perfekt!

    Change Data Field

    Hello
I like very much this data field screen, and I use it a lot.
Can I change one of fields? ex. change the field "pace" for "speed"
    Thanks for you reply
  • Thank you for this Data field. Very helpful.

On my 920XT the top row of three fields (HR Pace CAD) is trunctated. I.e. the bottom c20% is cut off - it is till perfectly useable but it doesn't look like the screens.

I suspect it is because the top strip on my watch is still displaying (GPS bars, bluetooth symbol, heart symbol etc).

    How do I fix that?
  • To address all the customization requests, I will see what I can do to add some flexibility. The new Connect IQ version has arrived with the promise of some customization options, I'll see what can be worked out and what is available for data fields. No promises but I will try!

I have not heard of this issue before. Just to cover all the bases:

    - your on the most current firmware and not a beta?
    - you have started the activity I presume and not just seeing this in the pre-start screen?
    - can you attach a screen shot which might help if I need to forward this on to the CIQ team?
