Description: This data field is the next version of "Single Run Field" supporting dynamic running and cycling adjustment with support for Garmin Connect defined user HR zones. Basic running elements are provided by this field with some customization of how this is presented to the user while in an activity. When in a activity defined as running it will use the user defined settings marked as running and use the Garmin Connect defined running HR zones. When in a activity defined as cycling it will use the user defined settings marked as cycling and use the Garmin Connect defined cycling HR zones. The data field has the following features:

  • background color determined by APP setting (Fenix3) or user setting (FR230/235/630/735XT/920XT/vivoactive)
  • pace/speed and distance in metric or statute based on system setting
  • choose pace or speed from user settings in Garmin Express (running and cycling)
  • choose current, average, 5s, or 10s for speed and pace based on user settings
  • activity timer or elapsed time based on user settings
  • current HR (color indicating HR range based on Garmin Connect settings for running and cycling)
  • current cadence (color indicating cadence range based on Garmin Connect or custom values for running and cycling)
  • battery meter graphic with text percentage
  • GPS status indicator (shows GPS when locked and nothing when not locked)

HR zone coloring matching Garmin's defined color scheme:

  • Z5 (Red)
  • Z4 (Orange)
  • Z3 (Green)
  • Z2 (Blue)
  • Z1 (Grey)

*** OLDER VERSIONS ***

*** NOTE *** Single Run Field v2 is now just called Single Run Field and is combined so there are less versions. If the version you are currently using is working there is no reason to switch your install. In the future if there are features you want you will need move to the supported combined version. There is no difference between the versions at this time!

Please use this thread to discuss the single data fields. Links to other support resources for these data fields are listed here:

  • Heart rate color coding is on the list, waiting to see what features are coming in the SDK ...
Curious how you would use color coding with pace given the variability?
  • Ugh, the forum just snarfed my response.

I've found Torsteinvh's PaceThreshold very useful- he compiled a version for my pace and it's been great.

Another model which might work is based on garmin's color scheme:

    given a target pace:
    red >6% below target pace
    orange 2-6% below target pace
    green +/-2% of target pace
blue 2% to 6% above target pace
    purple > 6% above target.

I know this would require one to input a target pace, or input pace zones, so it may not yet be possible as a one-size-fits-all build.
  • I am using single run on epix but for mountain bike if you can change a pace to speed it will be great
    Thank you !!!!

I haven't finished it yet but v2 of the Single Hike Field will be coming to the Epix as well as the v2 Single Run Field. I use the v2 hike field when I bike so maybe it will do what you need: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/dad8ddfd-9610-43ed-ad55-0808509ea9b6 (this is the F3 version as an example).

Can't locate / access the app on my Fenix 3 after download?

    Hi,

I love the look of this app and it would be perfect for hang gliding as it has all the data I need on one page (I'm using a separate small, sensitive variometer). I have been using a basic data screen with 4 fields (elevation, bearing, speed and elapsed time) but your single hike screen v2 would be better as it adds the time, distance, battery and GPS. Really helpful. My problem is I download the app and then can't seem to locate it on the Fenix 3 to use it? Connect says it's loaded. Appreciate your assistance as this will make casual flights where I don't need all my cumbersome instruments fantastic.
  • This particular item is a data field to use in a app. If you have it installed your pretty much there, you will need to configure an app to use the data screen, the instructions can be found on page 13 of the Fenix manual (instructions shown here):

    Customizing the Data Screens

You can show, hide, and change the layout and content of data
    screens for each activity.

    1 Hold UP.
    2 Select Settings > Apps.
3 Select the activity to customize.
    4 Select Data Screens.
5 Select a data screen to customize.
    6 Select an option:
    • Select Status to turn the data screen on or off.
    • Select Layout to adjust the number of data fields on the data screen.
    • Select a field to change the data that appears in the field

For this particular field you'll want to select Layout of "1 Field" and then select "Single Hike Field v2". I would recommend creating a app (page 4 of the Fenix 3 manual) using the "other" category and then assigning data fields to it. Although this is more involved, given your activity, you wouldn't want running/cycling/etc personal records being set during hang gliding.

    Request

    Hi,

Thanks for this data field: Single Run Field v2!
I would like the battery meter with text percentage for 920XT too. Is it possible?

    Thanks!

    Regards,
    FifiTheReal
  • In future releases I will look into adding that. Thanks for the feedback.

  • Pace Metric Questions

    Hi,

this is great. Very clean and beautiful. Two questions:

    1) What is the pace metric that is being displayed? Is it instant pace? smoothed?

    2) Is it possible to add a field to show avg pace per mile?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

    Bests,
    T
