Description: This data field is the next version of "Single Run Field" supporting dynamic running and cycling adjustment with support for Garmin Connect defined user HR zones. Basic running elements are provided by this field with some customization of how this is presented to the user while in an activity. When in a activity defined as running it will use the user defined settings marked as running and use the Garmin Connect defined running HR zones. When in a activity defined as cycling it will use the user defined settings marked as cycling and use the Garmin Connect defined cycling HR zones. The data field has the following features:

• background color determined by APP setting (Fenix3) or user setting (FR230/235/630/735XT/920XT/vivoactive)
• pace/speed and distance in metric or statute based on system setting
• choose pace or speed from user settings in Garmin Express (running and cycling)
• choose current, average, 5s, or 10s for speed and pace based on user settings
• activity timer or elapsed time based on user settings
• current HR (color indicating HR range based on Garmin Connect settings for running and cycling)
• current cadence (color indicating cadence range based on Garmin Connect or custom values for running and cycling)
• battery meter graphic with text percentage
• GPS status indicator (shows GPS when locked and nothing when not locked)

HR zone coloring matching Garmin's defined color scheme:

• Z5 (Red)
• Z4 (Orange)
• Z3 (Green)
• Z2 (Blue)
• Z1 (Grey)

*** OLDER VERSIONS ***

*** NOTE *** Single Run Field v2 is now just called Single Run Field and is combined so there are less versions. If the version you are currently using is working there is no reason to switch your install. In the future if there are features you want you will need move to the supported combined version. There is no difference between the versions at this time!

Please use this thread to discuss the single data fields. Links to other support resources for these data fields are listed here:

• How difficult is it, to get the Datastream from the Stryd Power Pod into the Single Run Field?
It would be great if this could be integrated in this great Data Field too.
Unfortunately Running Power from Stryd is still not supported by Garmin.

There are two issues with accomplishing this, the first is the Stryd ANT data specification is not published. The other will be memory to support the specification if it was published. At this time it doesn't look like this can be handled easily.

There's actually more issues than that... I already asked Angus (the developer of Stryd) a while ago as I (also) had intentions to integrate the power data from the stryd into my Peter's (Race) Pacer field... For reference find below Angus' first reply (we sent out a few more mails back and forth, but actually his first reply already nailed it pretty much... it's not straightforward and it could potentially lead to a crash-situation which is something we'd want to avoid :))

Hi Peter,

Thanks for reaching out to me!

There is a challenge with this. I will explain the situation. I do not think we can work around this, but maybe you can find something I missed.

Stryd is a running power meter. There is not a running power meter ANT+ channel at the moment. Therefore, we have a custom ANT+ channel that sends the running power data to the watch.

We have a Stryd Power data field that connects on this custom ANT+ channel and records all of the Stryd data to the FIT file. This data field uses the full amount of memory available (16KB).

I could provide the custom ANT+ channel information to you. You would add it to your data field and be able to show the power.

There are two constraints here:
1. Communication: The watch can only create one ANT+ connection per channel (same channel, same device). The watch will crash if the user tries to use your data field and the Stryd Power data field. So, they will have to opt to only use your data field.
2. Memory: If they opt to use your data field, they will not be able to record data to the FIT file. You can add the FIT recording to your app but you would essentially add another 8-10KB of memory to your add, which would be hard to do given the constraints.

Problems:
1. The user would have to give up data recording.
2. The user may experience watch crashing if they added both of our services.
3. There are memory/ecosystem constraints that prevent us from reaching an ideal solution.

What is the best option then?
I recommend that the user adds two data fields to the run mode on their watch.
1. Stryd Power. This lets them view and record the power (and the other metrics).
2. Peter's Pacer. This lets them get all the great pacing features from your app.

This is the problem I am seeing right now. I would gladly help you get this running and I think it would be very useful for the user. However, I suspect that this would cause trouble/confusion for the user if they are not able to use this as they intend to. It is possible I am missing something here. Do you see any way around this or an avenue I am missing?

Best,
Angus
• Any chances to change language of screen decsriptions? Polish will be perfect ;)

I thought at least the newer watches like Fenix 5, 5s and Forerunner 935 should support CIQ V2 and therefor the watches do have more memory than 16 kB?
• They do, but not much more: eg the fr735xt has 22k in datafield mode.
Anyway I'd say the communication constraint is the one what really makes it a no-go.

Basic question

Where do I actually find this screen while I am running? I scroll through and I just see the standard screens from before I added this app. Garmin Express says I have the latest version of this app installed as well as the latest software update on my FR235. Thanks

from the watch face do the following:
1. Click the top right button once to enter activity selection
2. Use the up arrow to scroll through the activities till you get to the one you want to customize (probably run or bike), only scroll, don't enter the activity
3. Select Menu > Activity Settings > Data Screens.
4. Select a screen.
Some screens can only be turned on or off.
5. If necessary, edit the number of data fields. <== should be one data field
6. Select a data field to change it. <== should be the Single Field

Typically the timer shows if the data field has been removed, you've already tried adding it back in after reinstalling I assume?
• Update Message

I've tried to download this app to my new Forerunner 735XT but I get the following message:

This app requires an update of your Forerunner 735XT. Please use Garmin Express to update your Forerunner 735XT.

I've checked in Garmin Express and it tells me I'm up to date and have version 4.20 installed. What am I doing wrong?

Cheers,

Rich
