  • Debugging on Epix

Second on not working on Epix

If you and atnbirdie wouldn't mind helping to resolve this, could you please try the following:

    1) Delete your ERR_LOG.txt file on the root of your Epix, 2) Create an empty CIQ_LOG.txt file in Garmin\APPS\LOGS on your Epix, 3) Run the Heavenward App, 4) Send the contents of ERR_LOG.txt and CIQ_LOG.txt?

I'm not sure whether logging is enabled on the release version, so if there is nothing in CIQ_LOG.txt after doing this, you could try installing the version at this URL by dropping the file in Garmin\APPS on your Epix.
  • CIQ logging isn't available on Epix yet, but you should be able to collect the ERR_LOG.txt. I'll give this a test myself on some pre-release firmware and see if I have trouble.
  • The good news is that the app isn't crashing the device. The app starts and says "Waiting for GPS", and at some point (I'm assuming once GPS is acquired) the app crashes. Since it's not a device crash, there's no ERR_LOG.txt, and it's going to be difficult to pin down the crash without the CIQ_LOG. I'll see what the status of logging is

Thanks, Brandon. Please let me know what you find out or if you need anything else from me. I'm pretty curious since I'm not sure what would be different in the app as far as running on the Epix is concerned. It seems to work pretty well on my Vivoactive, and it sounds like others have had success on the 920.

Seems you should pull the Epix version of your app from the store ASAP. If it crashes, it give a bad vibe to the new Epix folks who's first CIQ app crashes their device.
    (IMHO)
  • The developers may only have the simulator to test it, but if garmin upload the apps/widgets/data fields/watch faces to the epix store for use with epix, they have to try them before! A lot of them aren't working/working correctly on the epix. Garmin, some more quality control, please!!!
