  • Awesome!
I can't wait to see what you come up with.
  • Looks neat. Will it work on the 920xt?

Great! The app is now available for Vivoactive at https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/29dbd05e-ef6d-407b-96bb-b6047012a8a0.

I just posted a version that should work with the 920XT (0.2 Beta); please let me know if it works for you since I don't have an actual device.
  • I have a Vivoactive running 2.90. It works perfectly!
    Some notes:
Does NOT need to be connected to a phone/internet to run.
The program provides feed back while acquiring a GPS lock.
Also, a countdown as objects are rendered. Meaning, you're not left wondering if the program froze!
I'm assuming the list of planets to locate is based on which planets are visible. Nice feature if this is true!
A swipe from left-to-right/right-to-left of the screen moves the view through North, East, South, and West views.
A tap on the top of the screen shows the upper-sky view. While a tap on the bottom shows a view of the horizon.
This is an app, so it runs until you close it. None of the annoying time-outs that widgets have.

Awesome job! One suggestion, it'd be nice to be able to set a minimum star magnitude(brightness.) That way, the display would be less cluttered until the user could get their bearings. Then, be able to display more stars.
Thanks for an app I didn't think was possible! It's a great way to show off the watch to curious bystanders.
  • Awesome. I'm glad it worked for you and that you now have another way to show off your Vivoactive.

You're correct that the menu shows only planets that are currently above the horizon.

Good suggestion regarding adding a way to limit the displayed stars to only those of a certain magnitude or brighter. I'm currently limited by memory constraints since this app pushes the limits somewhat, but I appreciate the idea and will keep this in mind for the future. In https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?479-Connect-IQ, the Garmin gurus alluded to the possibility of packing things into memory more efficiently, so at some point I may be able to add such features.

Keep those ideas coming, and thanks for checking out the app!
  • Has anyone been successful getting this app to work on Epix? There is a review indicating that GPS doesn't work but the ConnectIQ code is identical for Epix so I'm not sure why it doesn't work there yet.

Thanks! I just installed it. Seems to work fine on my 920xt. This is cool!
  • Definitely not working on my epix running v2.2. loads to watch, but all i get is an IQ logo screen with a warning triangle with exclamation point in it. Tried unloading and reloading and power cycling the watch. No luck. i hope you get it working for epix as it looks like a great app.
