High powered mode gesture on Forerunner 935 buggy...

i've reported this on the 935 forum, but didn't get a definitive answer, so i hope this the right developer forum to write this query for people to test this or explain what is going on

i am finding with my Forerunner 935, when i use a ConnectIQ watch face that has "seconds" enabled for gesture/high powered mode, it will fail to work after some time. (could be 10 minutes, could be one hour). i can move my wrist as much as i'd like, and it will do nothing.

[watch faces include: NoFrills, Big and Lean, VSWF, Simple Big)

i can fix it one of several ways:

- go to the activity menu and "go back" to the watch screen and the gesture will work again... temporarily. or, similarly, i can just the up and down arrows to basically reset the watch face to make it work again.

- turn on Backlight -> Watch mode -> Gestures -> ON

or

- turn on Backlight -> Watch mode -> Gestures -> After Sunset

interestingly, the second is a kludgy but effective fix. even during day light hours or after my watch has gone into Do Not Disturb mode, it will continue to show seconds when i execute a wrist gesture.

clearly (at least to me), there is nothing hardware wise wrong with my accelerometer since the gesture works fine with the backlight enabled in some way to work on a gesture. however, i don't think think i've had to monkey with the backlight setting on my prior Forerunner 735XT as i usually leave it off to save power. (the kludge above seems fine since at least it is reasonable to want the backlight on during dark hours although it isn't really necessary if i'm in a well lit indoor room)

is this a Forerunner 935, Firmware 3.30 issue? my watch in particular (doesn't seem that would be the case given the fix using the backlight setting)? an issue with how high powered mode works in general? has anyone else seen this peculiar behavior?

it seems that somehow my watch has fallen into a "more dormant state" and can't get kicked into the high powered mode unless the backlight is enabled for gestures in some form or another.

it's not a showstopper, but it's a curious issue to me. for now i'll use that kludge above, or just turn the seconds off. (i usually use the built in analog face when i need a seconds on display)

i look forward to when the CIQ2.3 goes live and watch faces can have the seconds on all the time!
