Normally when you reply to a post and an error occurs (e.g. the classic cloudflare error), at least the content was saved and when you press the Reply button again, your saved content is restored.
5 minutes ago, I pressed the top-level Reply button on a post (which changes the button to Cancel), typed a bunch of stuff in the text field, and pressed the Reply button on the text field. The text field disappeared, the reply was not submitted (I double checked in another tab), but the top-level button remained as Cancel. In other words, the page was stuck in some intermediate state where my reply was half-submitted, half-not submitted.
When I refreshed the page, of course the Cancel button became Reply again, but when I pressed it again, the content of my reply was gone.
I assume this is one of those intermittent issues where stuff randomly doesn't work (like how the post/comment More menu sometimes takes forever to open, or doesn't open at all).
Idk why I'm posting this, everyone knows that the forum is hopelessly broken. Posting here literally feels like work. If you type a long post / reply, it's a probably a good idea to save the contents somewhere else before pressing Post / Reply, as you never know when the forum will eat your post. Similarly, when your post / reply fails, you have to do a bunch of work to edit it until the forum accepts it. Same issue when you try to include an image or a video and it fails for whatever reason. Nothing in the forum "just works".
Garmin could've chosen NodeBB or Discourse the last time the forum platform was changed, but I guess we're stuck with this forever.
