Users constantly post Connect app feature requests in the Connect IQ > App Ideas forum

I think it's obvious that some (or many) Garmin users have no idea what Connect IQ is, and will easily confuse it with Connect. Some users have stated outright that the names "Connect" and "Connect IQ" are too similar.

Furthermore, look at what the first hit is when I search up "garmin connect app ideas"

While it's arguable that it would be very hard to "accidentally" navigate to Developer > Connect IQ > App Ideas if you start from the root level of the forum, it's very plausible that someone just googled something like "garmin connect app ideas" and landed on a direct link.

Things I think might help mitigate this situation:

- make it even more clear to the user that these are the forums for 3rd party app development

(Look at how relatively tiny the word "Developer" is. Maybe the font could be huge, and there could be some text to explain this is the forum section for third-party app development, not built-in Garmin features)

- do some anti-SEO to prevent Connect IQ app ideas from being listed when the users searches for connect app ideas. But then again, I guess that's the inherent problem with having names that are so similar

- place some kind of banner in applicable places directing users to the Garmin Ideas page, since any time someone asks for a feature, that's the #1 result they will get. (I'm not at all opposed to people posting feature requests in the forums, bc I think it raises community awareness, but it seems pointless to have ppl suggest the exact same page every single time)

  • I've been experimenting with banners today, an annoyingly, the "generic content" banner I believed to be the solution gets applied to all the discussion forums in the Connect IQ developer space, rather than allowing me to have a distinct banner for each discussion forum. I'll see if I can find a different solution.
