The following is a note from someone who tried to download my watch face. Any help or advice would as to what might be causing this issue would sure be welcome.

Crashes on my Fenix 3 too, software 3.10. After installee the watchface on garmin connect and synchronisation , the screen becomes white with the digital watch . When I want to change the watchface again , the watch bugs and restarts again with the digital time with the black background . Never GMT moonphase analog watchface... I'm sad, if you can help me...

I have an update from the user, but I am still at a loss. The Moon should be animating a shadow for the first three seconds via a callback timer:

Thank you for your quick response but despite your instructions and update , always the same problems. After a manual reboot , the screen turns white. Now i have a moon that flashes for 3 seconds before disappearing and digital time appears . If I press up or down , the screen goes black for the watchface with digital time ...

    Hi,
I've got the same problem with one of mine.
Seems that it was due to a bitmap, was working fine on simulator but crash the watch.
Have to modify the bitmap and it was ok
  • I put your GMT Moon Phase app on a fenix 3 running v3.10 firmware, and it worked fine. One small exception is that I see the moon animation three times (once per second), but once the animation completes, the other watch face elements are displayed and it works properly. This was just a quick look, so it's difficult to say how it might perform over the long run. I would ask your user whether they have any other apps installed. Generally, that shouldn't be an issue, but it's good to find out as much as possible about the environment.

The other thing you could do is ask them for a CIQ_LOG.txt, which you could forward on to me. This file logs crash information from the virtual machine when an app crashes, and may give us an indication of what's happening. This file is typically located in /GARMIN/APPS/LOGS, but if it's not there, it can be created.

Thanks Brandon, I will give it a try.

The animation today (4/19) should now cycle straight from a full moon the current moon phase (it is a new moon today) which is the minimum animation. Just a day ago it was almost a new moon and then it cycles the longest animation which does a full moon phase cycle then settles to the current moon phase. If I didn't do that sometimes there would be almost no entry animation and I wanted a little something there. I could change it, it does get a little overdone sometimes.

What exactly did you need to modify in your bitmap to get it working?
