"Square Watch" and "Round Watch" - why would you use these build?

I've always wondered why these are build options and how they are meant to be used. Maybe I'm missing something, but if I build for "square" I use use vivoactive and/or 920, and for round, the Fenix 3.

Is there something I'm missing about using the "generics"?

The generics were there before there were any announced products that supported ConnectIQ. We didn't think removing them was worthwhile.

Thanks Brian, that's pretty much what I thought. But couldn't it be confusing for new people that think if they build and test for "Square watch", that it will work the same on any device with a square face, where there are actual differences between the vivoactive and 920, for example?
