Is there a way to contact a reviewer for more information?

Someone was kind enough to bother leaving a review for my watch face, but unfortunately the review was that it crashes for him and he left no more information about it.

I would like to get the watch face working for him, but I don't see any way to contact him and there is pretty much no way for me to chase down such a bug that does not happen to me with such vague information.

I know they can email me if the want to, but is there any way for me to email him, or is that locked for privacy? I have left a note in the watch face description for him, but I feel it is unlikely to be seen.

thanks
  • I have tried to contact reviewers via the forum on a few occasions. That doesn't always work as they might not follow the forum at all.

@Brandon: is it possible to request a reply feature from the store team? Either a private - e.g. via mail - or a public - inline with the reviews - or... both as they both makes sense in difference use-cases.
  • I have asked the app store team to add a bug reporting feature that will users to communicate directly with developers without exposing private contact information. It's on their list, but no estimates for when it might be available.

Will be good show information about model of the watch and fw version if we have this data - for developer only.
  • I agree--that's something that we would request in a bug report, but I doubt we'll require that for a review.
  • Since you have to have downloaded the app to write a review. Doesn't it know what watch and what version was used for the download?

Thanks Brandon, that will help a lot.
  • I have been getting a lot of reviews for my watch faces as well with little to no information (negatively impacting it's rating). To make it worse, the reviews are in a non-native language to mine and can glean a little from google translate but nothing of much use. Although probably un-popular, can the store be designed to enforce a app-developer provided minimum firmware version before downloading to ensure when we have taken the time to go through testing we know at least they aren't encountering something caused by version mis-matches or old firmware? I have a single watch face code base and use it daily myself with no issues so I can't reproduce the errors myself. I expect as the SDK progresses to newer release and individuals don't upgrade there firmware, this will happen more and more.
  • We're working on a way to allow developers to specify a minimum firmware version for their apps. In the meantime, I've seen those reports about your app and have been investigating. I am unable to reproduce the crash, but since all of the reports are in Chinese, I'd assume they're using APAC versions of our devices, which may have some differences in the firmware. I'll be working with our team in Taiwan to figure out the issue.
  • I was informed that the APAC firmware for the Fenix 3 is currently based on version 2.6, which explains why lcj2's watch face is crashing. The 3.0 Fenix 3 build brought a lot of fixes, so it's possible that apps that run fine otherwise will crash on APAC devices.
  • Since we started the thread, I have already had two more reviews I am guessing due to this. One is recommending people don't use it. It would be great to block installs to devices not on a compatible version on the ConnectIQ platform. Thanks for looking into this.
