Possible update settings issue on Garmin Connect Mobile ios?

I've got 3 distinct reports yesterday that when editing settings from Garmin Connect Mobile the user is presented with a binary file when he tries to save the settings. (One of the reports is here: https://forums.garmin.com/forum/deve...08#post1457708 )

another report:
Peter
In the last two days if I attempt to change the Target Finish Time on the Race Pacer app, I am directed out of Connect on iOS to a web page. I make the setting change and then I am presented with a binary file to download. App is up to date - is it possible that this came in with the most recent update?
another report of another app (hi vis pacer)
Having real difficulty getting this app set up. All installed okay however if I try to adjust the settings (distance, pace etc) as soon as I hit save I get the message 'Open outside Garmin Connect Mobile' When I select no nothing happens, when I select yes the settings screen opens in a browser window. I then make the same changes, hit save and I get a binary file to download?

I'm assuming it's a possible bug on the Garmin Connect Mobile (iOs version) side of things, as I don't have issues doing the send settings from my Android phone and the user that reported the issue was also able to update the settings through Garmin Express on his pc.

I did recently recompile both apps with the latest sdk (3.0.8) but beside adding support for the vivoactive 3 music lte I did no major changes to the apps

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
  • English (Canada) here. I live in Quebec, Canada, which is a french speaking province. If I switch my iPhone to French (Canada), I can change now change Connect IQ app settings.

This worked for me too. In Ontario. Switched to French (Canada) and the changes worked right away.
  • Yeah it then confirms my suspicions...non-English languages seem to be OK (confirmed: Dutch + French), the problem appears to be English...

Okay, update. We think we've narrowed down the problem and have some fixes, but we are needing some more information.

When this is happening, what languages are you using on your iOS devices?

We believe that this might be caused when there is a mismatch between the iOS device language and what we recognize for localization on the app store. For example, Furlan, which is a dialect recognized by Apple, but not by the app store.

If this sounds right, then please let us know. If this is happening in a known recognized dialect/language on the app store (simplest test is probably English), then also let us know so can sniff this out another way.

Note: We do know that this is happening when some iOS devices are set to English as well.

With as much transparency as possible, we think that it is a mix of this, possibly paired with some security exceptions that may need adjusted (hence the English iOS settings receiving the error). This has been quite a bit more complex of a problem than initial thought. For the time it's taken to fix, we apologize. Know that we are working hard to fix it and the appropriate amount of hair is on fire! :)

Again, if you have more information about the context of this issue for you or your users, then please give us the details so that we can better pinpoint our fix.

    Thank you,
    -Coleman

I get the problem with iOS English (UK). Garmin Connect app version is 4.15.1.2.

Using Garmin Express has never worked for me, because for some reason my Forerunner 235 has never been able to connect properly to a PC (tried 2 different PCs). I am totally reliant on the app for updates and to change settings, so a quick response is needed. If one isn't forthcoming, then why can't you just roll back to the previous version of the app which was working.

No. German non-English and NOT ok too.
  • Can we get an announcement out when this is fixed? I keep checking back here several times a day, and I'm afraid to open my Garmin Connect app in the meantime lest it rest all my things again.

My bluetooth connection also seems to have died around the same time?

Any news on a fix for this issue?
  • For me this is solved!

By not displaying the settings-button in Connect Mobile, any more
Just "Deinstall" and "Show in Shop"...

German Vivoactive 3, German Android 9 Huawei Honor 10.
  • i think that the problem is not the language, i think is the region. It works perfect with United States. I think the problem is with number/date/clock formatting.
