CIQ and ANT+ on the VivoActive 3

I have a datafield which makes a direct connection to an ANT foot pod. Garmin never auto-migrated this to the VA3 so I recently added this product manually but according to user feedback it doesn't work. The same user says it does work on an Edge device he also has so I am fairly confident he is setting it up right.

Is there anything different in the way the VA3 handles ANT+ comms compared to other Garmin devices? There is nothing I can see in the documentation but I am starting to think there is a reason why Garmin never auto-migrated my datafield for this device.

  • When the va3 came out, the only thing that would have been used for auto migration would have been the Approach S60 if I recall, and if you didn't have that as a target, it wouldn't have shown for the va3.

What I suspect is that the foot pod is paired as a system sensor on the user's va3, and when you try to connect directly, there's a conflict. Have them remove the foot pod as a system sensor and try again. (after a power off/on to be safe) You can't pair a foot pod on an edge, so there would be no conflict there.
  • Thanks Jim. I didn't know about the S60 link but that would explain. User says he has disconnected at system level but without having the device in my own hands I can never be 100% certain.
