Navigating with a Fenix3 from one point to another in a city

It would be great to be able to do that. Distance and heading to each waypoint with automatic advance to the next.

I'm surprised there are no apps that let me do this yet. Google Maps ELU is a bit vague. You can't use their GPS data overlayed by anything other than a Google map tile. Which is fine when you have only text guiding you to your next waypoint.

If this were done on iPhone, you would need an iOS app that would make the maps and send the waypoints to the device and have either a custom app or widget provide the navigation.

Am I missing anything? Does that sound feasible?
  • The Fenix 3 can navigate courses, direct you to stored locations, or track back along saved tracks. If you press and hold the Menu button and page down to Navigation, you will see several options like Courses, Saved Locations, Sight 'N Go, and Coordinates. All of these are different navigational tools. Within an app, like Hike, you can track back along a stored activity (e.g. you have hiked from your vehicle at point A to point B, and would like to follow the exact same track from point B back to point A). The Hike app even has a basic map that will display stored waypoints and the active track, similar to the Fenix and Fenix 2.

I think the only thing missing is multi-point routing. The Fenix 3 is not an automotive navigator, so it will not calculate routes along a road between multiple via points. This kind of functionality might be simulated with courses, though.

Is this what you're looking for?
