Miles run (not steps) on watch face

It is my understanding that in previous version of CIQ, Garmin devices could not distinguish between distance run and distance walked (as accounted by steps).

Has that changed by any chance on CIQ 3.0?

I just want to have a simple watchface that shows my daily run distance and weekly totals ...
  • Nothing changes in this regard when CIQ3 is released.

It does seem that some of the new FW on the f5 and 935 no longer includes cycling miles in the total daily mileage though. It sounds like it's only the distance of step related things (running/walking/etc)

But I actually don't even have step counting (or OHR) on as I find them pretty useless. I am a runner who currently runs 80+mi/week and the only thing I need is to see my mileage. I honestly couldn't care less if I get a few miles more from walking.

Aren't Forerunners supposed to be running watches?
  • Any update on this issue since the latest 945/245 intro?  I noticed that in the marketing pics, both the 945/245 watchfaces show a little runner-icon with a total distance.  Is that still the sum of miles run (GPS-based) and miles walked (accelerometer / steps-based)?

I wonder if Garmin finally addressed this ...

  • The default watch faces support this at least on my fenix6. It would be awesome if ciq opened up the ability to pull this data so other watchfaces and activity data fields could be added for example to show how many miles you have left with a certain goal.
