APi info fields referred to slope grade and VAM .....

Hi all,
I got an edge 520 and I would like to develop some apps.
It would be my pleasure ask to Garmin (or if some one knows) if it is supposed to release into the API these two (slope grade and vertical speed) fields even if their value is not properly reliable?
For examples Info.climbGrade, info.climb30secVam, or somethings like those ...

Is there any possibility that the slope grade value will be fixed (in the edg500 it was not so bad) by Garmin ? Right now the grade value provided by Garmin it's it is absolutely unusable (I don't know why).

I think for the price that the device costs (and the importance of the Garmin world) it's not really fair.

Ok, I can elaborate and calculate these fields but would be nice Garmin did it for us releasing a kind of "certified" and trusted fields.

I can certainly ask whether these can be included in the Activity.Info API. As to the slope grade value itself--that's a device/firmware-related bug. If you have more information about why this value isn't usable, I can pass that feedback on to the device team.

In my opinion I think that would be nice that all the fields provided by Garmin and present in the device Data Fields set should be available in the Activity.info set.

About the slope grade:

I own an edge 520 with the 12.60 Sofware version and the 3.20 GPS firmware (but actually while I am writing I realized that my device is updating the GPS firmware version), so as you say it should be a bug of this combinations ....

I recently (1 month) bought this "new" device in place of the edge 500 that was quite good about the reliability of measured values (at least the last software versions).
I was really surprised when I realized that the edge 520 values(mainly related to the climb info) were not real compared with those of the 500 (but maybe due to the particular software and firmware versions combinations) and also surprised that not all the values present in the device (or Activity.info.fields as you prefer) were not present in the API.

Meanwhile I will check out the new GPS firmware version and if the slope grade bug is fixed....

If I still verify non-real data related to the slope grade I will try to provide more information.

Hi Brandon,

I'm really interested into this as well. Having these values included in the API will be of a great help for developers like me. I already developed 4 datafields and calculating the grade is pretty tricky, getting this value directly from the API will be of great use, specially in one of my projects.
By the way can you ask about current temperature value as well? Like ActivityInfo.currentTemp or something like that?

I think we'd eventually like to provide all built-in data field values as Activity.Info members (we have similar tickets open for other requested values), but we'll add climb grade and vertical speed in a future release. :)
