Is it possible to send an image directly from the phone to a watch app? An obvious way would be to save it to some server and use makeImageRequest to pull it to the watch, but that generates unnecessary traffic. It would be cool to be able to use the watch to remote control phone's camera and see a (lowres/black&white) preview instantly on the watch screen :)
You should be able to use the following scenario:
- Start an HTTP webserver on your mobile phone (for Android there are multiple HTTP servers available);
- Send notification to CIQ device that an image is available;
- Get the image (Comm.makeImageRequest(....));
- Stop the webserver on the mobile phone
Oh no. You wrote something that seems not implemented in a released sdk. If you are going to make it, I think it is better to comment it rather than exposing it as an api.
Actually, it's something that changed over the last 7 years. With Android, it used to be that when an image was requested, any processing required was done right in GCM, but awhile back, Android GCM was changed to be the same as iOS and a wifi request where the processing was done on a garmin server to be consistent as the Android processing had bugs and was hard to maintain. This way if there is a bug it can be fixed on garmin server and didn't require a Android GCM update. This way when a new device is added, anything that needs to be done can be done on the Garmin Server.
I have a feeling the only way this ever worked was using makeImageRequest, which wasn't around until CIQ 1.2.x
