Cannot connect to simulator

Hello, I am a computer science student learning the ropes and thought this might be a fun way to learn something different. Anyways, I downloaded the SDK and followed the necessary steps in the "Getting Started" page. The only problem I seem to be having is that even when I have the Connect IQ Device Simulator running, when I run the program the console displays the following messages after the build finishes.

BUILD: Complete
Attempt 1 to connect to simulator...
Attempt 1 to connect to simulator...
Attempt 2 to connect to simulator...
Attempt 2 to connect to simulator...
It does this until the count reaches 5 and then says
Couldn't connect to simulator.

Sorry if this seems like an easy question, but I couldn't find any other forum posts about it. Any advice would be appreciated.

FWIW I recently encountered this problem. I had moved the location of my project folders since last time I ran the project, so suspect this may have been the cause. I deleted the run configuration, and rebuilt it, problem gone.

Couldn't connect to simulator.

I have this issue too. Just did a first time install on this laptop of java SDK, eclipse, and Connect IQ SDK. Followed the getting started section of the programmer's guide. When I get to running the example watch face program on the simulator, I get the following in the console.

BUILD: Complete
Attempt 1 to connect to simulator...
Couldn't connect to simulator.

Have gotten this consistently even after changing the run configuration, reinstalling the SDK, etc.

Laptop is win10, 64bit. I put eclipse, the SDK, and my workspace directories close to the root with no spaces.

Any ideas?

OK, solved it by uninstalling eclipse, Connect IQ SDK, and all of my Java updates. Then install the Java SDK 32 bit version only (even though this is a 64bit machine). Then install the CIQ SDK 1.29. Then install the 32 bit Eclipse. Followed the "Getting Started" part of programmers guide and it worked.

Not sure if it was a Java conflict between update versions, or if only the 32bit type will work with the Eclipse plugin. Either way, hope this solve holds.

Problems

Is there any solution jet for this problem? I've try with 64 and 32bit versions and the problem is the same.

Is there any chance it's a firewall issue on your machine? I know each time I update to a new SDK, I get a prompt from my firewall asking if I want to allow the new simulator.
