Connect IQ Simulator for Fedora?

I have installed Eclipse and the Connect IQ SDK on Fedora 26. However, when trying to run the simulator as per the instructions, nothing happens. Running it from a terminal reveals that several packages are missing. Some of these packages I managed to install but others do not seem to be available for Fedora. For example I'm currently stuck on

? bin ./simulator
./simulator: error while loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Is there a version of the simulator available that is built for Fedora?
  • the supported releases for linux are the ubuntu lts releases https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases, on other unix distro's it could work, but there are no guarantees there... if you get it to work on fedora post the steps you had to do for others that want to walk the same path, but it may be easier to use a supported distro instead...

during the public beta period I played around a with the sdk on linux set one it up successfully on Ubuntu Xenial Xerus (16.04 LTS), I had to install a few things manually (I forgot to take notes, but it was nothing difficult) and succesfully set up an instance on a vm.

peterdedecker is correct on this one. The officially supported releases are Ubuntu LTS. You might be able to get others to work, but you are missing those libraries because of your distro.

    Thanks,
