Any chance for our beloved Garmin wizzards adapting their Tempe Data Field app :)

Would be a nice cold weather project.

Only caveat is that the Tempe data is not saved in the fit file :(

Tempe data field is working fine on the FR920XT.

Looking for my savior for help and support ;)

There is no requirement for developers to update applications with new CIQ versions. All CIQ versions are backwards compatible.

There are instances where an error in the SDK allows a application software bug to go uncaught, which may get fixed in an update. In this case, an application that appeared to be working fine may start crashing with a new version. This type of issue should be uncommon.

It also possible for an issue with an SDK release to cause applications to crash when they should not. If this occurs, the SDK issue will be corrected.

Our general support team manages many areas beyond Connect IQ, and may not be experts in this area. Because an application error is the most common cause of an application crash, our support team is likely to suggest contacting the developer when this is reported. In this case it appears they were not aware that the application in question is released by Garmin directly.

This appears to be an issue with the application that was exposed by corrections in the 1.4.4 SDK release. I believe there is already a ticket created for the team that manages these applications, but I will check in with them to make sure they are aware of the issue.

Brian, thank you for the clarification. It is clear now.
Yes, Coleman my savior has informed about the ticket.(saving Tempe to fit).(Hope there is enough memory for CIQ 1.4.4)

CIQ is getting complex ;) happy hunting
  • Looks like we have this one reported already. I'll add some detail to the ticket to make sure it gets the proper attention.
  • I'm very interested in this thread. Am I understanding correctly that the ability to save the temperature readings to the activity's fit file is not currently possible, but will be added in the future?

    Thanks in advance!
  • If there is Temperature info being given to the device you can use the fitContributer APIs to record it to the fit file. The issue we have here is with the Garmin built Tempe data field. This was not implemented, though there are plans to add this in the future. We are currently in the process of making some major changes to the Tempe field that will include this change.

    Thanks,
    - Coleman
  • Cheers. Thanks for the response!
