[REQUEST] Marking apps as 'private' in the Connect IQ App Store

For final release testing it would be practical to have the possibility to mark the app as 'private' in the App Store. Then the the developer can download it to the device and do final testing before anyone else can see the app.

I know I can sideload apps, but that is not always practical, and it is not the exact same code as the one uploaded to the App Store.

  • I've proposed this to the app store development team. There are a couple of different routes we could use in the available app store mechanisms, so I think this is definitely possible. I think this kind of functionality would also be useful if a developer wanted to pull their app temporarily from the store due to a known bug or some other circumstance, without completely removing it.
  • It might also be very useful if we can have a private beta version of an app so a limited number of users can try it out before we let it loose on the world at large...

Especially as long as the simulator cannot catch all the errors in the applications, as it will allow me to have a few beta users with devices I don't have or use to test the apps first.
