App Setting are lost when widget is updated

Hi together,

my widget IoTClient makes extensive use of app settings.
If I do publish a new release and a user updates the widget, all app settings are gone on the users device.

Thats why users try to avoid updating the widget.

Is there a way to keep app settings during an app update process?

If the app is updated with Garmin Express, settings are preserved. It would be nice if the same happened when updating with GCM.

And it would also be nice if apps were automatically updated (or at least if the users could choose it). Are these things in the (short-term) plans? Or are there reasons not to offer these possibilities?

And when the types of some of the app settings are changed it's best to use Garmin Connect Mobile so that the settings are wiped :)
But generally updating through Garmin Express is indeed recommended
