I've been looking into the different sample apps provided in the sdk and while I have communication from the comm app working from the phone to the watch, it seems that after sending data from the options menu in Comm on the watch, the watch always crashes and reboots as if the crash is being cause by trying to close out of the menu where the send data function is found in. Here is my crash log I haven't looked into the best way to debug it yet but thought i'd put it out there incase someone already knew of the problem.
