(Automatic?) Updated apps/widgets/... synchronization (?)

Hello,
I'm under the impression that updating an app/widget/... for a newer version (duly uploaded in the Garmin Apps Store) is not automatic (upon device synchronization with Windows Garmin Express or Android Garmin Connect) and that it *requires* me to "Download" the new version (in the Garmin Apps Store) to actually take place.
Is this intended behavior or can it be something with my apps/widgets/... manifest/upload/versioning ?
NB: I use semantic versioning - <major>.<minor>.<build> - with <build> always being an ISO date followed by a letter; e.g. 1.0.20171110a
Thanks for any precision/clue and best,
Cédric
  • If you use Garmin express, there is a setting for "auto-update apps" (default on)., so you get the latest from the store automatically when you sync. It's they way to update an app without losing settings or the object store. With GCM/A, yes, it's an uninstall/reinstall. With GCM/iOS, there is a "update" button if there's a newer version in the store, but it acts like GCM/A where the app gets uninstalled/reinstalled, so you lose settings, etc.

What you are seeing is how it works, and nothing in your app causes it.
