satellite icon showing red line or 'off' when IQ app selected

I have an app that I'm writing, and when I side load it onto my watch, and scroll the activities list so that "IQ" is selected (as opposed to Run or Race), it shows the "GPS off" icon in the upper part of the watch. The icon shows the GPS satellite bars, and a red line crossing them.

My app uses GPS, and when it starts up it begins to scan for satellite reception, however while it my watch is in this initial "select activity" screen, it appears to be off (the little icon shows GPS off)... Any reason why? I would prefer that it be on during this time, because the I want the user to be able to get GPS reception before starting the app!

Thanks
  • There are many CIQ apps that don't use GPS, so it's off until a CIQ app turns it on. In my own apps, once they turn it on, they then watch the accuracy of GPS and wait for a fix.

Recoding in my apps like this can only be started if there's "good GPS"

Oh, BTW, you'll see the same thing with sensors, like the HRM, Tempe, and footpod. The app has to enable them.
