0-9 are obvious, and things like ":" , "-", and "." work, but where do I see what else is there? <space> for example simply shows a box (at least in the simulator!) Are there things like where a "d" will give you the degree symbol? It would be a way to represent non-ascii characters that are often used with numbers.

<space> is different between devices. Works on 920xt, but not on vivoactive.
I've opened a ticket to have this looked at a little more closely, but this is something that will be addressed by the device teams. I'll see if I can maybe get my hands on some character maps for each of the devices and make them available.
