vivoactive 3

All my Approach S60 compatible apps were just auto-updated... and are now compatible with the "vivoactive 3", which is basically the secret that everyone knew anyway but just wasn't officially acknowledged. At least other than this forum post: https://forums.garmin.com/forum/deve...d-golf-watches

I'm guessing an SDK update is in the near future.

UPDATE: the store page for the vivoactive 3 is now available -- https://apps.garmin.com/en-CA/devices/vivoactive3/apps

Cheers,
Douglas
  • a few of my apps got auto updated as well... no picture yet in the compatible devices list next to the vivoactive 3 for me.
  • Mine is not part of the list. Did you upload the App again or did that happen automatically?
Guess the batch-job is still running :)
  • It's a developer's choice: when you click on edit details of your uploaded app you can see whether you allow automigration. I think that option takes effect immediately and that you do not need to upload a new version after that (although in my case I've updated all my apps probably so I can't say for sure :))

On my easier projects I have set the flag on, but on complex projects such as Peter's (Race) Pacer I have set it to off as I rather don't have any ghost bugs because of migration issues, so I'll handle those projects myself and once I tested the new target in the simulator I'll upload a new version. :)

  • There's the flag peter mentions, but it's used based on what devices your app supports at the time of the auto-migration. When the D2 Charlie got added to the store, auto-migration was based on if your app had the f5 or f5x support. Auto-migration is a one time thing, and to add support for the new device, it will now need to be set as a target when you upload an app, which kind of indicates we'll see an SDK update very soon (one that also has the new edge 1030 I imagine!)
  • Just read DC Rainmakers review...

    Wow!
From my point of view: You did everything right, Garmin :)
Everything I wanted to have as a allday-watch was heard and included in this watch. Or otherwise, what was messed up with the HR, was now rethought.
I know what I will buy next month
Exactly the perfect match between slightly enhanced sport functionality (workouts), small size, nice look and the price is affordable/adequate.

    Back to topic:
I've updated my App now with Approach S60 and D2 Charly. The Checkbox is set to auto. convert. But it seems that the updates are not coming through until yet.
This and another Beta-App are not being synchronized via Express. If I remember right, this has been more or less immediately in the past... We will see!
  • You missed the auto migration. You'll have to wait for an SDK update and set it as a target and upload again. It only does this once to populate the apps for a new device, and after that, it's got to be a target when you build the .iq
  • Jim, you've exceeded your message quote on the forum. I was trying to send you a message!
  • I'll take a look CW! Thanks. Try again in a few minutes!

Update. I just cleared it, but it seems that it didn't really clear it, as I get an error when I try to post.
