If Vivofit and Vivosmart are not going to be compatible, will there be new lightweight, 24/7 wearable devices that are and when can we expect details of compatible devices?
There are many applications that would be best suited to the activity trackers rather than the full featured watches.
At the Connect IQ launch, it was said that we will be announcing products first quarter of next year. In the mean time, the FR920XT is a multi-sport triathlon watch, but it also has 24/7 activity tracking. It will be getting Connect IQ support first quarter next year as well.
It is unfortunate that vivosmart will not be supported, the device has a lot of potential for customisation. FR920XT is excellent device, but it's not as small and elegant as vivosmart. The band form factor is what makes vivosmart so attractive in the first place.
Is there any way to customise the vivosmart onboard software? Maybe open up the vivosmart code base (make it opensource) for community users?
