Showing garmin's menu to move widget after a long up-press

Hi,

I designed a widget and for the main page I have an InputDelegate. Saying this, what do I have to do that if the user presses on a FR935 the up key for a longer time that the widget quits and the garmin menu is shown (to e. g. move the widget to another place)

On a 935 or f5/s/x (and others), a long press of up is seen as the menu key (that's why you see a menu). You can add onMenu() or check for KEY_MENU in your delegate, and return "true" to indicate your widget handled it so the FW doesn't use the default behavior for the key.

Hi Jim,

I already had a common "return true" statement in the delegate. But I added it again explicitely. Nevertheless, it shows no behaviour on the watch if I press the menu button. Is there something additional to do?

Try also adding an onMenu() function which returns true.

I tried that, but it has no effect. Still the same behaviour. A long press on the up button does nothing. Any ideas what's going on?

I guess I'm confused about what you want to do. Is it that you want a long press of up to exit your widget?

From a CIQ widget theres no way to one of the menus that native widgets use with things like re-order.

If you want the native behavior, you should return false from onMenu(). I haven't tested this in some time, but should be right.

Hm, I tried now to return false in the onMenu() but this also do not work. Note that I have the basic onKey(evt) now in parallel to the onMenu() in the delegate which extends Ui.InputDelegate class. In the onKey(evt) method I only ask for Ui.KEY_ENTER and if this key is detected I release a Ui.requestUpdate() and return true. Any other key is confirmed with false. Now I have another method in parallel (the onMenu() method) which returns defaultly false.

Travis, is this what you have recommended? I have this in place now but on my real watch the default menu is not called but instead the widget is shown as if no key would be pressed at all.

To be honest, now I am a little bit confused. Is it possible or not for a 3rd party widget to get to the garmin's native menu which shows things like widget up/down?

No, it's not possible. That menu you see with native widgets to rearrange things, etc is not available for CIQ widgets.
