How does BBS datafield get current power target?

The Best Bike Split Power Targets data field displays, if I understand it correctly, the current power target embedded in Garmin Power Course .fit file generated by BestBikeSplit.com.
Would anyone here know how this is done using the CIQ API and also where I can find the file format of Power Course .fit files? Thanks!
  • There is no way for a CIQ app to read a .fit file, or directly write a .fit file (the FW writes the actual .fit file when an activity is recorded)

Are you sure this isn't something the user defines with settings in Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express (the app's .set file), or something generated/maintained by the data field in it's Object Store (.str file)? Maybe it gets it from the sensor itself over ANT+? (AntPlus.BikePower things)

    That's why I was asking. ;-)

Thought about this again ... selecting a power course from BBS as course shows recommended power on the map ... so the recommended power values might just be the names of waypoints ... and the name of the next waypoint can be accessed via activity.info as a string.

Would have to check to be totally sure but seems doable now.
