I see that the new Epix has a map feature. I don't currently see an map API in the SDK. Is the SDK going to be updated with a map API? I work on a project for the US Army and we are evaluating the viability of wearables for the solider. This feature would be very useful.
An interesting question. I have my own thoughts about how this could be used, but I'm curious to hear more about how you might use this. What kind of capabilities would you expect from this API? Are there certain features that would be must-have, and others that would be nice to have? Maybe asking another way--what kind of features would you require for a wearable to be viable for your purposes?
We are looking to plot other peoples position, routes and points of interest on the map and use our own symbology. The primary feature we would need is a map view that we could draw our own images, text, shapes and lines over top of the map tiles. We would need to be able to interact with the map to tap, long press, pan and zoom. A projection would be needed to convert a geographic location to a screen coordinate and a screen coordinate to a geographic location. It would be nice to be able to rotate the map.
Thanks for the information--I've opened a ticket to request this kind of functionality, and included your ideas to help describe the feature. Connect IQ doesn't have this capability currently, but this is definitely not outside the realm of possibility. Please post any other suggestions or questions you have about Connect IQ or the epix.
