It seems to me that a keypress starts a backlight timer. I have an app where I want to leave the backlight on for a period of time, but the auto feature will turn the backlight off. It is easy enough to simply call the backlight function continuously, but you still get the unpleasant effect as the light cycles off then on again. Unless I have missed something I am going to request that the backlight function disables this feature when backlight set to true.
I've created a report for this. I don't know what opinions will be regarding this request because the backlight timeout is a system wide user configured setting, and can have significant battery impact.
Ok, thanks. Please consider the following with regards opinions. Presently you can wait till after the timeout, start the backlight, and it will stay on. So the feature and ability to use significant battery are already enabled. I'm just asking for it to be made more user friendly.
Would be nice to set the backlight timer value from the system menu too. I have a lot of information displayed on my watch face and so would like to increase the backlight time out. Ta Garmin.

This is already possible on the FR920. Menu->Settings->System->Backlight->Timeout.
It is also available in similar locations on Fenix 3 and VivoActive.
