Garmin TempeVersion 1.0 Connect IQ

Always "searching for TEMPE" message (ability to choose celsius or fahrenheit units), temperature doesn't display. Please fix this issue!!!
  • The bug was in the Connect IQ virtual machine, so is not directly related to the Tempe performance issues you experienced outside of Connect IQ apps. I am not familiar with any Fenix 3 firmware bugs that might affect the function of the Tempe. The only issues related to Tempe and Fenix 3 I currently see are simple language translation issues that should not affect the performance of the devices.
  • The Connection is hell. Some of your secs should read the forum.
Ido put the Fenix 3 next to my shoe withe the Tempe on it, it will be fine. Not so on the wrist.
Fenix 2 was far better withe the reception.
Biggest drawback is a failure by design: if you loose the connection in an activity to the Tempe, it will fall back to the internal sensor and mess up the mediates. If outside of an activity, the widget will wait until the connection is stable again. Should be the other way around

There was a crash we could easily reproduce in the Tempe app that were related to a bug in the ANT module. The fixes to the ANT module are under review, so even though the bug is not in the Tempe app itself, we've decided to hold off on the Tempe app release until the ANT fixes are made available. Otherwise, we'll be releasing an app that will crash devices fairly easily--something we definitely want to avoid.

    Hi,

Is there a plan to fix this ANT module bug?
What's the tempe app release date?

    Thanks

Tempe app doesn't display negative temperatures

    Thanks finally for this app!
Negative temperatures unfortunately don't display, (data field empty instead)
However, the garmin tempe sensor manual shows operating temperature range from -4°F to 140°F (from -20°C to 60°C) : could you solve this issue?
  • I reported the lack of negative temps during testing of the app, so it's something we're aware of. I'll send updates to make sure the issue is addressed as soon as possible. Apologies for the inconvenience!
  • Can't wait to try this out! I just ordered my Tempe sensor. I've been waiting for the app to be released before getting it. I assume the temperature graph will show up in Garmin Connect along with the heart rate & other data?
  • Tempe App unstable on Vivoactive 3.00

    Thanks for the Tempe App.

    Some quick notes:

    1. Nice hidden feature to access the standard watch (hold finger on screen).

    2. On my VA (running FW 3.00) the App does not not reliably find the Tempe. This can happen even just after the VA system message "Tempe Connected". Can take several attempts to work. Seems to connect more reliably after restarting the watch?

    3. The App seems to lock up after 10-15 mins. Symptom is that current temperature no longer updates. Exiting the App and restarting often leads to the problem above ...

Hopefully these issues can be fixed - it is a very useful utility for the Tempe!
  • Tempe app issues and questions

I'm using a 920xt with all updates done yesterday (July 23)

I have a couple of quick questions:
    1. Is there a way to get the app to default to Fahrenheit instead of Celsius? (holding the dot-dot-dot button EVERY time to convert to Fahrenheit is annoying)
    2. How do I access the app to see temperature while recording a workout/run/ride? I know how to see the temp data when I'm not recording, but I can't figure it out during an activity.
    3. Can this thing broadcast and receive from more than a few centimeters yet? Will it ever? (I want to put the tempe in the kids bike trailer when I'm training with them to know if it's too hot or too cold and under my saddle bag when I get to ride solo).

Thanks in advance for any help with these questions.

    Hi guys,

i'm one of the Garmin app developers.

Today we uploaded a new Tempe app (1.2) version.

    Changelog:
    - Added support to handle negative temperature values
    - Added app icon for Vivoactive
    - Show current temp two places after the decimal separator
    - Show 24min/24max temp one place after the decimal separator
    - read system temperature settings instead of using grad celsius as default

Regarding the connection issues on FR920XT:
    - please update to latest FW (5.20) and ANT+/BLE FW (3.10) via Garmin Express
    - (if there are still issues) there will be more ANT+ bugfixes with the upcoming FR920XT FW release

    @dugeem.david regarding your questions:
    2) i just tested it on my Vivoactive without any issues. I tested it with a connected Tempe sensor via watch sensor settings and without. The Tempe app doesn't assume a connected Tempe sensor via watch settings. It works independent on that. I recommend to use the latest Firmware 3.10.
    3) i just tested it for >3 hours without any app/temp lock. I will observe it...

    @Jake_Morgan regarding your questions:
    1) please use the latest Tempe app version 1.2 from store. The new app will read the temperature unit from watch
    2) it's not possible to access tempe sensor in datafields on FR920XT or to switch to tempe app while recording
    3) i connected the tempe sensor (hold it near the watch) and then placed it 3-4 meters away. I got no disconnections by testing the app for one hour. But i'm aware of the problems finding the sensor sometimes. I will investigate to fix this issue too.

@all - Thanks for the great feedback :)

    Thanks,
    Daniel
  • Thanks!

    Daniel,

Thanks for the update. I have been on the fence buying this sensor for my 920xt, but I ordered one today since you updated the widget.

    Thanks!
