Reasons for signature check fail?

I'm trying to upload a new version of my watch face Suuntish but get the "Signature check failed" error. I have reinstalled my computer since I updated it last, but I copied my developer_key file and put the location in Visual Studio Code settings, so it shouldn't have changed. Is there anything else that might cause this?

Should I just upload the new version as a new app?

What version of the SDK are you using? 9.2.0 is the newest.

I'm using the latest SDK 9.2.0, with java 26. I tried creating a copy of it with a new name (and app ID), uploading that works, but I think that's because the key is connected to the app, not my account? A new app can use a different key. But the frustrating part is that I'm pretty sure my key hasn't changed.

The older versions was probably done with version 8.4 of the SDK, but that shouldn't matter?

When uploading an app to the store, there is a minimum SDK allowed. This is from a fairly old post:

Side-Loading to System 8 Devices

For System 8 devices receiving the 2025 Q2 QMR, any app that is being side-loaded to the device must be built with Connect IQ SDK 7.4.3 or greater. In July, we will be setting the minimum SDK version to 8.1 for uploading apps to the store.

it wouldn't surprise me if it's higher than 8.1 today, as we also have System 9

The newest version is built with SDK 9.2. But maybe I'll just have to release it as a new app.

I know this is a simple and maybe obvious question, but in your Monkey C settings within VSC is the Monkey C: Developer ID correct (yours is c1ec382d-3dbb-4ccf-a4d5-01b2346a5df7) ? And double check your developer key

I think that (c1ec...) is the app ID, my developer ID is 57719f1d-f818-4928-acd4-559e3f42bf02 and it is set in VSC preferences. I can't prove 100% that I'm using the same key, but I copied it from my backup drive and can't remember ever generating a new one so I'm pretty sure it's the same.

I can see my uploaded apps in the ERA viewer, but I don't know if that uses the developer key or just the ID.
