Forum - mail and forum notifications from the past - literaly tons of !

Yes, I also got crazy of these. Most of them were even not related to CIQ. I don't know who was the admin who approved all the posts stuck for 11-12 months, I think it would've been not to do it (especially not those that are off-topic).

If you posted a question, you might want to know there was a reply. Even if it was very late.

Seems like it doesn't happen very regularly. Maybe, it's not something to spend much time complaining about.

(Sure, it might be somewhat of a waste of time deleting these but it's not that much work (especially, if you don't care about any of them).

??? How would they know they were off topic? Would it be a useful thing for a volunteer to spend much time considering?

(If you require increased maintenance cost/effort, dropping the forums is going to seem like a better option. That is, be careful what you wish for!)

It kind of depends whether you are getting email notifications and if yes, then on what forums/threads. But getting an email just helps to (some) to realize the bulk of these "spam" comments. Everybody sees them when they enter the forum.

The problem is that approving 12 month old comments doesn't help anyone. In fact it really looks bad on Garmin's part. If these comments were blocked for more than a week then Garmin could just delete them. But spamming the forum with them is really the worst option IMHO.

Regarding the "how the admin knows if it's off-topic"? Well if they don't then maybe they shouldn't be admins on that forum...

??? Do you really think don’t get notifications after saying I didn’t get any old notifications?

I don’t think this happened to everyone (who get notifications, obviously).

Two people complained about it. If it was everybody, it seems it would be a lot more.

Of course I think moderators read the posts. I do, before I approve or deny any. And I totally expect all other moderators do it as well! Otherwise the moderators are of a greater risk than the bots.

I doubt volunteers read every post. I suspect they rely on other forum members to report issues and take action on them. I suspect most (larger) work that way. Some automatic junk seems to hang around longer that it would if every post is read by moderators.

(There is an automatic spam detection that, at times, seems insane. It flagged my one of my posts in this thread (similar to my post just earlier). It was restored quickly though. I’ve seen the foam detector act oddly before.)

We don’t know the extent of this issue.

I didn’t see it. Suggesting it didn’t happen for everybody.

Two people complained about it. Suggesting it happened to a few people or most people didn’t care very much.
