Marking sickness on the app

Not quite sure if this is the correct space to leave feedback to developers.

I WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO TRACK WHEN I HAVE BEEN SICK ON MY CONNECT APP.

I understand that being sick doesn't change that my body is detraining or hasn't been active, but I would love to have a record of why I was detraining.  I would love to be able to note when I began to be sick and for how long.  This would help me keep a record of my monthly and annual fitness rhythms and why.  I can record my cycle and see how this impacts my activity, but I am unable to record a flu or injury.

  • Many times you can see it in the HRV values. However, this forum is for third party development, for Garmin development it might be better to open a topic in the forum that relates to your device (check Outdoor Recreation / Sports & Fitness to find your device related forum).

  • this is not the right forum, and I agree that it would make sense from Garmin's part to add this to Garmin Connect for everyone. What you may do is to add sickness as a custom topic under the Lifestyle logging and report every day whether you are sick or not. Or even better if you don't use lifestyle logging. then only report it when you're sick

  • actually it aleady has Illness as built-in category there.

  • This is a good idea, but from what I've heard, one problem with Lifestyle Logging is once you starting using it, you can't completely turn it off. (I wouldn't know since I don't use it).

  • Not sure what you mean by that, but if I don't enter the lifestyle menu for a while (not sure if a week or two) then it stops reminding me every day to fill it out.

  • The complaint I've seen is that once you start using the feature, you can't turn it off - as in make it as if you had never turned it on in the first place. All you can do is silence the notifications.

Again, I don't use it, so I can't speak from personal experience.

Next you will ask why it matters if the feature is still technically enabled if there are no notifications.

All I can say is that it's other people who are complaining about this, on various platforms. One possibly relevant complaint is that apparently you cannot disable all "lifestyles" / "behaviours" (or whatever they're called), but at least one must be selected. Idk if this is still the case, but that's what people were saying in the past.

     Turn off lifestyle logging completely?

  • That's kind of the small brother of the fact that I can't make all the Golf related menus disable in Garmin connect, even though I never stepped in a golf court in my like. nor did I ever open any of the golf related features in Garmin

  • Ok? But the difference is that golf is always there (maybe unless you don't have a golf-enabled watch), but lifestyle logging is something that you opt into.

I just wanted to bring it up since I've seen a lot of complaints about it.

It might be a good feature (or not), but apparently a few people on the internet are mad that you can't completely turn it off once you turn it on. And it's entirely possible that the next person to turn that feature on might also find that they don't like it, and they might also get mad that they can't completely turn it off.

If anything, it's a UX fail on Garmin's part. Like there's someone in the other thread who either is unaware that they can remove the lifestyle logging glance, or is actually unable to do so. The former is more likely, but it's all the same to them, unless and until someone tells them how to remove the glance.

It would probably just be easier if Garmin had a big button to completely turn off lifestyle logging, which would probably make all of these ppl happier, rather than forcing them to individually turn off notifications, remove the glance, and ignore whatever parts of the feature are still in the UI.
