Monkey C forums

Are there other forums to discuss Monkey C development, not maintained by Garmin?

I keep running into spam filters. Can't post images and as of today cannot post two replies in five minutes or so, that's to fast.

Problems with the forum are neglected since I joined a year ago.

If there are no other forums, maybe there is enough interest to set up one ourselves?

  • Oh this would be awesome, given the state of the forum. There is a Discord server (https://discord.gg/RqVUDwmr) with a monkey-c channel, although I don't see it getting used much. There are also some ragtag Facebook groups. I'd be interested to join something, but at the same time also I question the wisdom of fragmenting the resources.

  • Me too, the forum software here is pretty frustrating.

  • Idk, the connectiq subreddit is a ghost town, and same goes for ciq-related discussion on stackoverflow. You'd think those would be natural / accessible places for people to post, as it's likely they would already have accounts on those platforms (that's part of the appeal of centralized stuff, right?) I do recognize that even though reddit is the most forum-like modern platform, there's certain things about it that suck for certain kinds of discussions.

I think ppl have tried discord and irc in the past but they never took off.

Let's face it, there's like 5-10 active devs who post here. If roughly 2 of those devs stopped posting, then literally no questions would be answered. And one of them is pretty adamant about not wanting to post anywhere else.

Too bad Garmin didn't use NodeBB (or something similarly modern) when they switched the forum platform years ago, like I practically begged them to.
