Hello,
I'm a developer that is looking to purchase my first Garmin watch. I would be moving from a Samsung Galaxy Active 2, which I'm actually very happy with.
The thing I'm looking for is a stand-alone watch that can operate independent from a phone.
I ran a comparison between the Venu 4 and the Forerunner 570 and my watch, and there are a few things I couldn't verify were built into these Garmin watches.
I am very willing to code my own stuff to do what I need, but I am having trouble finding the appropriate API classes.
1. I need to be able to add calendar entries on the watch and then have alerts for events that are about to occur (1 hour, 30 min, 10 min warnings, etc) like the Samsung watch. I can see there isn't a built-in app that does this, and I don't see an API for this. Perhaps I'm missing something. Can anyone point me in the right direction? This is an important feature for me.
2. I need to be able to add contacts directly with the watch. Is this possible? This is also an important feature for me.
3. While I don't need as many as 20 alarms like my Samsung can do, I do use more than 10 repeating throughout the week on different days and I wonder if there is a way to slip in more via API calls. If there's an API for the Calendar entries, I'll simply use that for my various alarms I need throughout the week.
I'll need points #1 and #2 before I can purchase the watch (Venu 4 or Forerunner 570 - I need the mic and speaker) and I really hope somebody can show me the right API calls for this.
All the best,
