bug in forum: Post button becomes grayed out once we type anything in the title

When you try to open a new bug report in the developer forum, first the Post button is blue:

but then if you type anything in the title, and leave the field (click anywhere else with the mouse) then the Post button becomes grayed out:

This is pretty annoying, as "experienced" users will not try to click the gray button but instead start to look for what's causing it being gray. After wasting some time I clicked it and it turned out that it does work.

  • I saw the same thing when creating a Bug Report under Fenix 7 Beta 23.xx.

    the button was grayed, but after multiple, finaly clic on it, and tadaa 

    another forum bug ?

    and Tadaa, i finaly created multiple BR for the same issue ... by clic on the grey button Sweat smile

  • always the same issue, not sure it is useful to report problem, nobody reply or provide a solution.

    --- Then forum users are clicking multiple times, and the system is ok with duplicate post ...

  • Always the same situation, no feedback from Garmin and forum users are "using" this bug as expected ...

  • I'm not able to reproduce this. When you have text in each box (subject and description), if you click out of the box (in the white space around the text boxes)  and wait a moment, does the box turn blue again?

    I can recreate this very easily.

    - Navigate to any bug report subforum (e.g. Connect IQ Bug Reports, FR955 Beta Bug Reports)

    - Click "+ New" to start editing a new bug report. The Post button will initially be grey, but it will quickly turn to blue by itself

    - Click in the "Idea" (subject) text field

    - Click outside of the "Idea" text field or press TAB. The Post button will immediately turn grey

    You don't need to type anything. All you need to do to trigger the behaviour is for the Idea text field to receive keyboard focus, then lose keyboard focus. (I am ignoring the fact that you obviously need a subject / Idea for the bug report to be valid, and only focusing on the exact steps required to trigger this behaviour. The fact that the Post button is blue when there's no subject could also be considered a bug.)

    I think the expected behaviour here is:

    - The Post button is blue if and only if it's possible to submit the post (e.g. at least the Idea field is filled out)

    - The Post button is grey if and only if it's not possible to submit the post (e.g. the Idea field is not filled out)

    Ofc there could be edge cases which aren't so clear-cut (like the post apparently being submitable, but a server side error prevents submission), but I think the case described in the OP is pretty simple.

    If you still can't reproduce it with flowstate's steps then I recommend to try this somehow outside of the VPN of the Garmin offices

    Interesting. I'm able to reproduce in some ideations and not others. I'll dig deeper and update when I have more info. Thank you for your patience.

    Edit: As of 1/13, we are still investigating this.

    Dear Santa, i wish you to fix the forum bugs in 2025, not in 2030.

    Those that were reported since more than a year and those reported since 1-2 months now Upside down
