How to disable Fenix 8 Lap Tone?

I have a watch app in which the lap button is required to be pressed to cycle through phases of the activity.

On all watches prior to F8, I controlled tones within the app, which could be disabled if the user desired.

Some users running F8's have reported that there is still tone that's played when the lap button is pressed, irrespective of the tone enable/disable setting in my app.

It seems the tones for the other buttons and functions are able to be disabled, but lap button press tone remains persistent.

How can I go about disabling this within the app? Within the simulator running a fenix 8, all tone functions operate as desired.

  • In my perspective this is wanted by Garmin and depends on the activty your app is starting.

E.g. if you are starting Yoga (SPORT_TRAINING SUB_SPORT_YOGA ) no sound on activity start/end, but if app is throwing a lap, the heart rate is played on internal speaker - really strange.

So even if you have an app, Garmin has a kind of control about your device attention features, if app starts an activity. I found no way to switch off in app. The only way would be (maybe) the focus mode feature on latest devices or select 'silent' activity types.

  • Can you install the "built-in" yoga activity and then in it's settings disable the lap tone? If yes, then after that does the watch-app that records a yoga activity still sound the tone?

  • lap tone cannot be activated/deactivated, only additinal voice infos like HR can be activated/deactivated in focus mode 'activtiy' ... but this is not your point ... ;(

Seems to be, the only way is to select a 'silent' activty type ... in my perspective this is a bug .. but obviously Garmin has a different view.
