Edge 1000 + CIQ 2.2.1 + Communications.transmit

Hello,
If I run the same app on other devices with older CIQ versions, it can send bluetooth messages using Comm.transmit, but compiled for 2.2.1 and running on an Edge 1000 it sends nothing.

Any ideas?

Please help! :)
Thank you!

    See this:

You may be running into the same problem I am when trying to use BLE on an Edge device. There's a unspecified bug preventing the Edge family of devices communicating over BLE via Connect IQ, with no known timeline to fix :(

  • Ufff ...
I hope that they are aware of that and can offer a solution ...

No solution. No timeline. Just completely broken software with no commitment to a fix and no notice in the SDK. My project is dead in the water without a BLE bridge. Completely disappointing.

I wanted to keep developing my project so I just bought a Forerunner 735XT (because this bug only affects Edge devices). I can confirm that BLE comms via the Forerunner does work with the current iOS SDK (1.2) -- as tested with the iOS Sample App & the Comm app in the Connect IQ SDK. Though, I had to fix a few bugs in the Comm app to make it work. I realize it's not possible for everyone to drop $500 on a development device, but I thought I'd pass the knowledge along.

This evidence taken together makes it clear that BLE support isn't important for Garmin ;(. Invest at your own risk, it seems.
  • Ok. I only have this problem with the Edge series.
