Enable Attention.setFlashlightMode() Support for Instinct 2X Tactical Models
Dear Garmin Developer Team,
I would like to request the enabling of flashlight control through the Toybox.Attention.setFlashlightMode() API for the Garmin Instinct 2X Tactical (and other Instinct 2X variants that have built-in LED flashlights).
The device already includes a fully functional multi-color flashlight and strobe capability accessible through the system interface. However, this functionality is currently not exposed to Connect IQ apps, calls to Attention.setFlashlightMode() return as unavailable or unsupported, and the hasFlashlightColor() method returns false.
Enabling this API would allow developers to create useful applications such as:
• Notification flash indicators
• Safety or emergency signaling tools
• Outdoor navigation or night visibility features
As the flashlight feature is already part of the device firmware, exposing it to the Connect IQ SDK (similar to the way it’s available on newer devices) would greatly expand the platform’s capabilities while maintaining full user control and safety.
Thank you for considering this feature enhancement, it would be valuable to many Instinct 2X Tactical users and developers.
