We don't have anything like this in place right now, but it's something we can consider. The forums have been the best tool so far. An IRC channel sounds like a great idea, but I'm not sure how many folks would be interested in IRC these days. :) I'll do a little research and see whether we want to get something set up beyond the forums. Can you describe the benefits of using Discord over the existing forum system?
As far as I can tell, using Discord would allow more real-time communication, which would be useful to people looking for help. Unfortunately that advantage does not exist if there are not people with the necessary knowledge available to provide answers in real-time.
Things like this have been tried in the past (slack just a few months back), and the problem is no one ever used it. I doubt the Garmin folks would want to split their time between this forum and something else and I know I wouldn't want to either.
