Hi everyone,
I'm a recreational dragon boat paddler and a huge fan of the Instinct 3. The watch's "Rowing" activity profile is useful for general workout tracking, but I've found it lacks some key features that would be incredibly helpful for our sport.
Dragon boat racing involves short-distance sprints, typically 250m or 500m. While I can manually set up "distance segments," it would be a game-changer to have a more dynamic and automated way to track these training pieces.
Here's my suggestion:
Would it be possible to create a feature that automatically records a "training segment" based on start and stop actions? For example, when I start paddling and then stop after a sprint, the watch would automatically log that segment. This would be incredibly useful for analyzing simulated race pieces over 250m or 500m.
Key metrics I'd love to see for each of these dynamic segments include:
-
Total time for the 250m/500m sprint
-
Maximum speed
-
Average speed
Does anyone know if there's a way to set up a custom activity profile or training mode that could achieve this? Or, is this something Garmin could consider adding as a specific feature for the Instinct series, given the growing popularity of dragon boat sports?
Thanks for your help and feedback!
