Monkeyc.exe missing

I downloaded the latest Connect IQ SDK for Windows using the official SDK Manager from developer.garmin.com/.../, but I cannot find monkeyc.exe in the SDK’s bin directory. Also tried SDK 8.1.1

All I can find are shell scripts or placeholder files. I followed all instructions, downloaded the Windows version, and have Java installed. I'm on Windows 11.

I have monkeymotion.exe but no monkeyc.exe

Is there a way to manually download the correct SDK or get monkeyc.exe for Windows?

But there is no monkeyc.exe and there never has been.

The closest things are:

- monkeyc.bat - Windows script file which launches the compiler

- monkeyc - bash script file which launches the compiler (for linux and macos)

- monkeybrains.jar - the actual compiler (but it's easier to launch if you use one of the script files instead)

I'm kind of curious why you think there should be a monkeyc.exe? Is this something chatgpt or another llm has told you about?

Yes, the shell scripts exist to easily launch various java apps, which are distributed as JAR files. monkeybrains.jar (the compiler) is one of them.

Regardless, the easiest way to use the SDK is via the VS Code Monkey C extension.

e.g.

- build project: Command Palette (CTRL-SHIFT-P) > Monkey C: Build Current Project

- run project: CTRL-F5
