Why was my post asking for Tai Chi as an activity choice locked?

I hadn't had a chance to respond to other users' comments with clarifications, answers to questions they had, etc. The issue was not solved; there is no Tai Chi or Martial Arts (Traditional Martial Arts) options and there is no sensible alternate activity type to select in leu of Tai Chi. I wanted to reply to some of the responses to my request, and the thread was locked before I had a chance to respond at all. Why?

  • It's not really an "IQ App Development" post. That is, this isn't the forum for it. (There isn't actually an appropriate forum but this still isn't it.) I think somebody posted the link to where one can post suggestions.

  • The Garmin Connect forum might also be a start.  Here's the one for web based, and there are others for Android and ios
    https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mobile-apps-web/f/garmin-connect-web

  • Thank you! Since I was asking for the activity to be included as a choice on Garmin Connect, I had thought this was the appropriate forum to ask and discuss, but evidently I was wrong, and had no way of knowing why the thread was locked. I appreciate you directing me to another forum that might be better suited!

  • I know it's not exactly what you're looking for, but as a workaround you can have "Tai Chi" (or whatever you want) automatically incorporated in the title of your activities, when you use a specific profile on your watch.

    1) Make a copy of the Cardio profile on your watch, and name it "Tai Chi" (or whatever you want)

    2) Open Garmin Connect in a web browser: https://connect.garmin.com

    3) Click on profile pic (upper right hand corner) > Account Settings > Display Preferences or open this link: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/settings/displayPreferences

    4) Change Activity Name to Location & Device Activity Name

Now the activity name in Connect will be based on the activity profile name on the watch (and not the activity type). When you use your new "Tai Chi" profile, your activities will be named like "[City Name] - Tai Chi".

At the very least, it might save you the effort of renaming your Tai Chi activities after syncing them.
