App Crash on Fenix 7 – Works Fine on Fenix 8 and Simulator

Hi all,

I’ve developed a Connect IQ app that displays METAR (aviation weather) data for selected airports. The app works perfectly on my Fenix 8 and in the Fenix 7 simulator. However, I’ve now tested it on a real Fenix 7 device and confirmed the issue reported by another user.

Issue:

• After installing the app and adding at least one airport (e.g. KLAX), the app works initially.

• Once you close the app and try to reopen it, it crashes immediately — screen flashes and returns to the app list.

• The glance view still works and shows the METAR for the default airport.

Steps to reproduce (on Fenix 7):

1. Install the app: https://apps.garmin.com/apps/7154089d-98de-4a97-944e-a7cd5aa11ddc

2. Add at least one airport (e.g. KLAX).

3. Close the app.

4. Try to reopen it — crash occurs.

This issue does not happen on:

• Fenix 8 (real device)

• Fenix 7 Simulator

Question:
Is there a known limitation or CIQ bug affecting persistence or app startup on the Fenix 7 series? Any suggestions for debugging or possible workarounds?
