[REQUEST] watchface access to system data

I would like to be able to display sunrise/sunset information on my watchface.

Is there any way you could allow us the ability to access system data like last known lat/lon position from a watchface. Or have the watchface callback a widget to retrieve the information for it. That should not drain the battery too much and it would give watchfaces much more functionality.

The one tidbit of data I really need is the last known latitude.

From that I can calculate sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset, tides.

I'm waiting for this too, as soon as this made available or apps/widgets are supported I plan on submitting my implementation of a sunrise/sunset face or widget!

We're already considering adding sunrise/sunset information to the API:

Whether this would be available to watch faces, I'm not certain. Positioning is intentionally not available to watch faces because they operate in low power mode.

You should probably distinguish between whether the GPS receiver will be activated or not. I don't suppose that there will be any powerdrain adding the last known position along with a timestamp?

Good point. It would just need to be understood that the last known position may not be accurate. I can check to see whether the last known position could be made available.

Brandon, just want to thank you and your colleagues for attention and responsiveness. We really feel that our ideas are heard and opinions actually matter something. Here we really see feedback from your team, what is not happening elsewhere.
