Oregon Battery Reading Wrong

Hi,

I have received 5 star reviews for all devices on a Data Field, but I am now getting 1 star reviews from Oregon owners on a Data Field which uses Sys.getSystemStats().battery

The simulator unsurprisingly doesn't show up any problems, but does anybody else know of any issues with this property on this device (and may also include the Rhino)?

I've tried some things on an Oregon 700 (2.70 FW) with the Garmin rechargeable AA batteries (you can also use normal AA's), and what you see could be due to the different battery techs (other devices use LiIon.)

CIQ at least right now, sees the battery level in 20% increments, so it will be at 20%,40%,60%, 80% (on a full charge I didn't see 100% BTW - the highest I saw was 80%)

On top of that, while in use, it might drop to 60%, then back to 80%, then 60% again. On other devices the battery level might bounce around a bit, but if it's only 1%, its not as noticeable as a 20% bounce.

I passed this observation on to Garmin, and haven't heard if it's something that can be addressed, or if it's "just the way it works".

Thanks Jim, what you report matches what I can imagine the Users are seeing, with the big battery drops.

One thing I forgot to mention is this could be related to the standard battery icon - it's either empty, or 1-4 segments (0%, 20,40,60,80) That could be why the 20% increments are seen in CIQ.
