Show Layer within DatField

Hi all,

I am currently building a DataField I would like to "popup" a message when a certain event occurs (e.g. HR > 140).

I was thinking to something like this.

Custom "popup" layer:

Is it doable? If yes, how can I do this? A layer?
Any code example you can share?

On the very end of onUpdate(dc), but inside, put:

if ( hr > 140 ) {
dc.setColor(Black, Transparent);
dc.fillRectangle( where you want it to display); // ie: 0, fieldheight/3, fieldwidth, fieldheight*2/3
dc.setColor( messagecolor, transparen);
dc.drawText( fieldwidth/2, fieldheight/2, font, message, center); // y depends on fontsize
}

On condition there is the layout with only one df.

If you have e.g. 8 dfs in layout, each df has access only to its piece of screen so it is possible to draw something only in the area of df.

Ok, I was thinking to something like this but, don't know why, I thought it was stupid...

And I ended up searching a way to make WatchUi.Layer works inside a DataField (which seems to be impossible btw)

With fillRoundedRectangle and a frame around you can create really nice popup windows…

I have to withdraw my statement, where I claimed, a popup can only be inside the datafield.

Since API level 3.2.0

When you want your data field to notify the user of a specific event, you can push a view that extends DataFieldAlert. DataFieldAlert is a special instance of View that can be presented to the user with showAlert. The alert does not accept input and will time out after the standard alert period. The user is required to enable alerts for your app in the workout alert settings.

I have to admit, I did not know about alerts!

Yes, on another discussion flowstate give me that answer.

But in this particular case I prefer your solution even if is bounded to the DF space.
